We are a non-profit organization serving the poor since 2004.
Helping Hands Assistance Program provides temporary assistance with basic needs to families, individuals and seniors in financial crisis. We give a "helping hand-up" by providing groceries, fresh produce, fresh baked goods, clothing, household items, personal hygiene, infant supplies and referrals to other community services.
We aim to give support and educate people through difficult times while transitioning them toward self-sufficiency.
(achieving self sufficiency through integrated services and training)
Our signature program is for people who find themselves facing unexpected financial hardships due to current economic conditions, illness, age, domestic violence, or divorce. Volunteers assist members in navigating the maze of available services while filling the need for basic necessities. If a member has reached their full potential after 90 days and utilized all aspects of the program they will then be graduated after completing an evaluation. If basic needs continue to be a struggle, the member will be placed on our "Emergency Food Program" to receive supplemental food and other basics 4x per year.
Spring is in the air and in South Florida that means we can turn off our space heaters and put away our sweaters.
It also means that Helping Hands is gearing up for our annual"Stamp out Hunger" food drive. This will be our 7th year participating with the National Association of Letter Carriers.
